KK’s Steel Mill, Wolverhampton – 23 Nov 2021

KK’s Steel Mill, Star Works, Frederick Street, Wolverhampton WV2 4DU

The venue is in an old 40,000 sq ft car manufacturing workshop, built in 1903 and is a single open space with pitched roof with steel framework – now converted to a spacious venue and owned by KK Downing, founder member of Judas Priest.

The venue is situated to the south of the inner city ring road, in a small industrial estate with a few takeaways, a Costa Coffee in the retail park and a café-bar close to the venue. For pubs, you will need to go back into the city centre.

KK’s Steel Mill – at the 6 o’clock point on the circular Ring Road around Wolverhampton City Centre – use WV2 4DU on Sat Nav/Google Maps

Parking

There is plenty of street parking nearby, along with a car park on Church Lane, just a couple of minute’s walk from the venue.

DO NOT be tempted to park in the retail park, or ALDI etc – they are monitored by parking companies and have a 2 hour limit – you will be fined!

Also, DO NOT park in the NCP car park at the Wulfrun Shopping Centre, as it closes at 10pm.

There are larger car parks on the other side of the Ring Road, just a 10 min walk from the venue – these are:

Nearest – Church Lane Car Park – WV2 4EJ (on Google Maps as being £2 a day)

NCP Church Street Car Park – WV2 4LW

RCP Parking (opposite Church St NCP) – WV2 4BA

NCP Summer Row Car Park – WV2 4LW

Parking – car park on Church Lane not showing, situated on the opposite side of Ring Road to RCP Parking. Also, Church Street car park next to the RCP Car Park

Public Transport

The venue is not well served by public transport – if you are arriving by train, it is an 18-20 minute, 1 mile walk from the station. Use Google Maps to plot your route, there are walkways and underpasses across the city that avoid you having to use the busy roads.

VIP and Show

As far as I’m aware, the timings will be the VIP soundcheck at 5pm (your email will give you more details of where and when to meet), with main doors at 6.30, local support at 7.45 and James onstage around 8.45 to 9pm.

Eat and Drink

There are lots of places within the city centre, a 10-15 minute walk north from the venue. There are pathways underneath the busy ring road, the nearest to the venue being at the corner of Church Lane and Pool Street.

Closer to the venue, there are some takeaways, an Indian Restaurant and Jack’s Café Bar, which serves food til 3pm and after 5pm and is also open til 2am if you want to have a few drinks after the gig.
